Kiko Barzaga Unfazed by Suspension: Still Pushing for Marcos Impeachment Complaint (2026)

Facing a 60-day suspension from the House of Representatives, Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga remains steadfast in his mission: to impeach President Marcos. This bold stance, revealed on "The Big Story" on One News, highlights a deep-seated conviction. Barzaga intends to file an impeachment complaint, citing a "betrayal of public trust" as the primary reason. But what does this really mean?

Barzaga, present when the House upheld his suspension "without pay and privileges," didn't contest the decision. He stated, "I wholeheartedly accept the decision of the committee, but I maintain my stance that President Marcos must be held accountable for his crimes. Too many people have died, and too much money was plundered from the Filipino people for us to stand down now." This declaration showcases his unwavering commitment to his cause.

He further added, "Whatever punishment may fall upon me and others who stand against this President, who has lost his constitutional mandate of serving the people, is inconsequential in relation to the number of lives and futures that will be saved once President Marcos leaves the Malacañang." This statement emphasizes the weight of his convictions, prioritizing the potential impact of his actions.

In early October, Barzaga first announced his intention to file an impeachment complaint. He has yet to formally submit the complaint to the House secretary general, lawyer and former journalist Cheloy Garafil.

Barzaga, at only 27 years old, stated, "I am filing an impeachment complaint against President Marcos. Hopefully, Congress will remove him soon so we can start investigating those involved in flood control anomalies," seemingly undeterred by the fact that a vast majority of the chamber, 289 out of 317 members, are aligned with Marcos.

But here's where it gets controversial... Barzaga, a member of what's now popularly termed "nepo babies," being the son of the late congressman Elpidio Barzaga Jr., only displayed the document on Marcos' impeachment suit in his vlog. He accused the Chief Executive of "betrayal of public trust."

In his vlog, he humorously remarked, "Welcome back to the crocodile farm. Absent ulit mga buwaya, (nagbakasyon) na," followed by, "At may surprise ulit ako sa inyo – the Marcos impeachment complaint! Ameow hehehe bye bye Marcos."

And this is the part most people miss... The potential impact of Barzaga's actions could be significant. It raises questions about accountability, public trust, and the future of the Philippines.
