Melaka RXZ Motorcycle Gathering 2025: A Success Story (2026)

Melaka's RXZ Motorcycle Gathering: A Triumph for Tourism and Enthusiasts

The Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh witnessed a remarkable gathering of classic Yamaha RXZ motorcycle enthusiasts, attracting over 70,000 visitors over two days, according to Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, the Melaka Chief Minister. This event, titled 'RXZ Members Ride Edition Melaka 3.0 2025', brought together a diverse community of motorcycle enthusiasts, with over 20,000 riders from across the country and an additional 50,000 visitors.

Ab Rauf emphasized the event's positive impact on Melaka's economy and its position as a leading motorsports destination. The overwhelming response this year, he noted, showcases the RXZ community's growing influence, generating significant economic returns across various sectors, including hospitality, food and beverage, retail, and small businesses. Hotels, resorts, and homestays were fully occupied, and restaurants and vendors experienced a surge in customers, indicating the event's success in boosting the local economy.

This event aligns with Melaka's strategic plans for Visit Melaka Year (TMM) 2.0 and Visit Malaysia 2026, aiming to attract 19 million tourists by 2026. The Yamaha RXZ motorcycle, popular among young riders in the late 1980s and 1990s, played a significant role in attracting enthusiasts from various backgrounds.

Ab Rauf, a self-proclaimed motorcycling enthusiast, shared his passion for big bikes, owning several RXZ machines and actively participating in superbike rider associations. However, the event faced criticism from Kota Melaka MP, Khoo Poay Tiong, who raised concerns about the disruption to residents' daily routines, public tranquillity, and traffic safety.

Despite the controversy, the RXZ gathering in Melaka has solidified its position as a significant motorsports event, fostering community engagement and economic growth. The event's success invites further exploration of sustainable tourism practices and the potential for similar gatherings to contribute to Melaka's vibrant cultural and economic landscape.
