Get ready, Bat-fans! The highly anticipated The Batman Part II is shaping up to be a game-changer, and the latest news has sent ripples of excitement through the comic book community. The electrifying Sebastian Stan, known for his role as Bucky Barnes in the Thunderbolts and a recent Oscar-nominated performance, is officially joining the cast. But here's where it gets controversial...
Rumors have been swirling, and now it's confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, that Stan will be taking on the role of Harvey Dent in Matt Reeves' sequel. The big question on everyone's mind: will we see Dent's transformation into the iconic villain Two-Face?
And this is the part most people miss... While the casting is confirmed, the specifics of Dent's arc remain a mystery. Could we see Gilda Dent (rumored to be played by Scarlett Johansson) take center stage? Current fan theories are buzzing with the possibility of her being the Holiday Killer or even Phantasm.
Remember Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight? The transformation of Harvey Dent into Two-Face was a pivotal moment, but it happened relatively late in the story. His screen time was limited. How will Reeves handle this iconic villain? It promises to be a very interesting take.
Stan, known for his role as the Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is no stranger to complex characters. Interestingly, in 2024, when asked about joining a Batman movie, Stan remained coy, saying, "I don’t know if Batman’s for me, but never say never." He also mentioned his fondness for The Riddler.
Back in 2016, Stan showed his appreciation for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, praising Ben Affleck's Batman and the film's visuals.

Reeves, who co-wrote the script with Mattson Tomlin, will be back in the director's chair. Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell are set to reprise their roles as Batman, Jim Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth, and The Penguin, respectively. However, Zoë Kravitz is not expected to return as Catwoman, which makes sense given the sequel's timeline, which will pick up just weeks or months after the events of The Batman.
Filming is scheduled to begin next spring in England and Scotland. Luke Hull will serve as the production designer, and Erik Messerschmidt is the cinematographer.
The Batman Part II is slated for release in theaters on October 1, 2027.
